The Faculty of Computing at SIMAD University successfully hosted the official launch of the Somalia Chapter of Global Accredited Cybersecurity Education (Global ACE), in collaboration with the National Communications Authority (NCA) and Cyber Security Malaysia.
This landmark event represents a major step forward in strengthening cybersecurity education and digital capacity development in Somalia, providing access to globally recognized standards, certifications, and professional training programs.
During the launch ceremony, the Rector of SIMAD University, Dr. Abdikarim Mohiaddin, highlighted the university’s strategic role in hosting and implementing the Global ACE Somalia Chapter. He emphasized that the initiative aligns with SIMAD University’s mission to deliver high-quality, globally competitive education while preparing Somali youth for the demands of the digital economy.
As the host faculty, the Faculty of Computing will lead the implementation of Global ACE programs, which include:
- Internationally accredited cybersecurity certifications
- Professional and technical training programs
- Capacity-building initiatives for students, IT professionals, and cybersecurity practitioners
These programs are designed to enhance digital security skills, promote best practices in cybersecurity, and develop a highly skilled workforce capable of addressing emerging cyber threats at both national and regional levels.
